Model of Ciliwung Riverbank with the Ecohydraulics Approach in Kelurahan Sempur, Bogor

Abstract

The effort to control and flood prevention can be started with managing and structuring the area of the river, as known river restoration. River restoration is an attempt to restore the functions of the river physically, ecologically, socially and economically so that it becomes a natural stream (nature-like river) and resemble the initial conditions in order to reduce the danger of flooding and damage the river. The purpose of this study are : 1) Identifyied the damage along the riverbanks of the Ciliwung River in Kelurahan Sempur, 2) Made the river restoration concept with ecohydraulics approach. The result of this research was design of riverbank restoration with eco-hydraulics approach using plants. From the research, it is found that Ciliwung River which passing Kelurahan Sempur have a significant function for flooding retention. Based on the research, there is some damage to the river in this section, for example the erosion and sedimentation in the downstream. This is because the slope of the riverbed is very small. The design of river management is by adding vegetation on the riverbanks and flood plain areas.
