Abstract: Kepulauan Seribu National Park is situated north of Jakarta and is a nesting ground for the hawksbill sea turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata). During the west monsoon (December through May), the hawksbill turtle nests on some of the islands in the Park. The species is also present in surrounding waters, due to a favorable habitat of coral reefs in the area. About 500 turtles nest in the Park, mainly on the islands of sanctuary zone, including Peteloran Timur, Penjaliran Timur, Gosong Pengat, Penjaliran Barat, and Peteloran Barat. By carrying out conservation and management activities in the area and controlling illegal hunting, it is hoped that the species will escape extinction in Kepulauan Seribu Marine National Park.
