dc.description.abstractPlant regeneration in rattan manau through tissue culture technique as an alternative in preparing planting stock has been studied since 1986. Plant regeneration through direct organogenesis was obtained in cultures derived front mature embryos in MS media supllemented with aux in and cytokinin . Cytokinin BAP and kinetinat the rate of 2-6 m y / l used in separete experiments showed similar results in percentage of culture with multiple shoot and the aveaaye number of shoot perculture . Auxin 2,4-D induced adventitious shoots which were pale and big , while IAA and NAA induced axillary shoot atthe initial stage . The rate of auxin tested was 1-2 mg/l . During long term subculture , the rate of multiplication increased at the second and third subculture and then declined . Somatic embryos were found in several cultures, fterthe fourth subcultured. Cultures forming somatic embryos showed steady rate of multiplication. Transfer of plant lets to autotroph media had been achieved by growing platlets at 100% humidity , 2 6 O and 50% of the natural lightintensity in soil : compost : sand (1 : 1 : 1) medium.id
