Low birth weight (LBW) is a primary contributing factor to infant mortality, with its prevalence in Gorontalo Province being relatively high in Indonesia. One of the causal factors for LBW is anemia in pregnant women, which is closely related to insufficient consumption of iron supplements (TTD). This study aims to analyze the relationship between iron supplement consumption in pregnant women and LBW in Gorontalo Province. This study utilizes secondary data sourced from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI). The data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially using the Chi-Square test. The total number of subjects was 634 pregnant women. The majority of subjects were not-at-risk pregnant women (72.1%), with an upper-secondary education level or higher (58.2%), and were unemployed (62.9%). The majority of subjects had undergone antenatal care (ANC) checkups (83.1%). However, the majority of the subjects consumed <90 iron supplement tablets during pregnancy (50.3%). The majority of infants born in Gorontalo were not categorized as LBW (93.2%). The analysis results of this study show that there is no significant relationship between maternal age, maternal education level, and ANC check-ups with LBW (p=0.078, p=0.218, and p=0.914, respectively). However, there is a significant relationship between maternal occupation and LBW (p=0.023). Furthermore, there is no significant relationship between TTD consumption in pregnant women and LBW (p=0.908). |
