The demand for Indonesian vanilla exports is expected to continue increasing in the coming years. Indonesia is the second-largest producer in the world. However, the export value of Indonesian vanilla to major destination countries remains low and has even declined in recent years. This study aims to analyze the potential of Indonesian vanilla to capture market share in the United States and assess its competitiveness compared to major competitors, including Madagascar, Uganda, India, and Papua New Guinea. The analysis covers the period from 2014 to 2023. The methods used are Acceleration Ratio (AR), Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), and Dynamic Revealed Comparative Advantage (DRCA). The AR analysis of Indonesian vanilla shows a value greater than one, indicating that Indonesian vanilla has the potential to capture market share in the United States. Furthermore, the RCA and DRCA calculations indicate that Indonesian vanilla has strong competitiveness in the U.S. market, with its position in period 1 (2014–2019) classified as a "rising star" and in period 2 (2018–2022) as leading retreat. |
