Social Forestry (SF) in Giriawas Village, Garut Regency, is a sustainable state forest management initiative aimed at maintaining ecological, social, and economic functions. This study aims to identify the socio-economic characteristics of tenant farmers, examine stakeholders’ perceptions of land management practices that support soil and water conservation (SWC), and develop strategies to preserve environmental sustainability in SF areas. The research employed a descriptive qualitative analysis and SWOT Matrix, with data collected through interviews with relevant stakeholders in Giriawas Village. The results indicate that the majority of farmers are of productive age (90%), have low educational attainment (92%), and low income levels (73%). The perceptions of farmers and other stakeholders reveal that the implementation of the SF program faces challenges related to declining environmental quality. The Weakness-Opportunity (W-O) strategy is considered a relevant approach to addressing these issues in the SF area of Giriawas Village by enhancing extension programs to improve farmers’ capacity in SWC practices.
