Abstract: Media sosial berperan penting dalam meningkatkan kesadaran mahasiswa terhadap isu kehutanan karena efektivitasnya dalam menyebarkan informasi secara cepat dan luas. Penelitian ini menganalisis persepsi mahasiswa IPB terhadap peran media sosial, serta hubungan dan perbedaan tingkat kesadaran berdasarkan latar belakang fakultas. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif, korelasi rank spearman, dan uji mann whitney. Hasil menunjukkan persepsi mahasiswa terhadap media sosial berada pada kategori tinggi, khususnya dalam kemudahan akses informasi dan efektivitas penyampaian pesan. Tingkat kesadaran mahasiswa juga tinggi, meliputi pengetahuan, sikap, dan niat bertindak, meskipun niat bertindak tercatat sedikit lebih rendah. Terdapat hubungan positif signifikan antara persepsi dan kesadaran, serta tidak ada perbedaan signifikan antara mahasiswa kehutanan dan non-kehutanan. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya optimalisasi media sosial sebagai sarana edukasi dan peningkatan kesadaran isu kehutanan di kalangan mahasiswa.
Social media plays an important role in increasing students’ awareness of forestry issues due to its effectiveness in rapidly and widely disseminating information. This study analyzes IPB students’ perceptions of the role of social media, as well as the relationship and differences in awareness levels based on faculty background. Data were analyzed descriptively, using rank spearman correlation and mann whitney. The results indicate that students’ perceptions of social media fall into the high category, particularly in terms of ease of accessing information and effectiveness in delivering messages. Students’ awareness levels we also high, covering knowledge, attitudes, and behavioral intentions, although the intention to act was slightly lower. A significant positive relationship was found between perception and awareness, while no significant differences were observed between forestry and non-forestry students. These findings emphasize the importance of optimizing social media as a medium for education and raising awareness about forestry issues among students.
