| Abstract: | Pohon aren (Arenga pinnata Merr.) merupakan salah satu sumber daya alam
Arenga pinnata Merr., commonly known as sugar palm, represents a significant tropical natural resource with considerable economic potential. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), spectral reflectance response, and the morphological characteristics and sap (nira) production of A. pinnata. Morphological parameters and sap yield were measured in the field, while NDVI values were obtained from multispectral drone imagery, and spectral reflectance data were recorded using a spectroradiometer. Among ten generatively active trees, morphological characteristics were relatively uniform, although APB-06 stood out in several parameters and exhibited the highest NDVI value, indicating optimal chlorophyll content and photosynthetic activity. Spectroradiometer data from three samples showed that APB-01 had the highest reflectance value, suggesting better vegetative growth. The analysis revealed that NDVI was most strongly correlated with canopy area and showed the weakest correlation with sap production. Conversely, spectral response showed strong correlations with the number of male and female inflorescences, tree height, canopy area, average male inflorescence length, and sap yield. These findings highlight the potential of remote sensing as a valuable tool for assessing the growth and productivity of Arenga pinnata. |
