Female college students generally pay close attention to their physical appearance and often use products that enhance their appearance, such as makeup. That habit tends to be accompanied by regular monthly purchases of makeup products, which can potentially lead to consumptive behavior. This study aims to analyze the influence of self-control, peer conformity, and electronic word of mouth on the consumptive behavior of purchasing makeup products among female college students. This study employs a quantitative approach using primary data from 217 female college students at IPB University, collected through an online survey using voluntary sampling. The research data obtained were analyzed using descriptive analysis, correlation tests, and structural equation modeling (SEM) using SmartPLS. The results showed that female college students had low self-control, high peer conformity and electronic word of mouth, and moderate consumptive behavior. Path analysis revealed that self-control significantly negatively influences consumptive behavior, peer conformity significantly positively influences consumptive behavior, while electronic word of mouth does not significantly influence consumptive behavior. Therefore, strengthening self-control and vigilance toward peer conformity behavior are needed as strategies to minimize consumptive behavior in purchasing makeup products among female college students. |
