Indonesia is the second largest exporter of nutmeg, mace, and cardamom in the world, which shows great potential in trading these commodities. This study aims to identify the right strategy to improve the export performance of these commodities in the international market. The analytical methods used include competitiveness analysis using Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), Export Product Dynamics (EPD), and X-Modl as well as panel data regression analysis with a Gravity Model approach. The results indicate that Indonesia’s competitiveness remains relatively strong in several major destination countries, although there is a general downward trend in RCA values. The regression results show that competitiveness (RCA), GDP per capita of importing countries, Indonesia’s GDP per capita, economic distance, and real exchange rates significantly influence export volume, while export prices and import tariffs are not significant. The study recommends strategies such as improving productivity, improving product quality through standardization and quality certification, diversifying export markets, increasing farmer capacity, strengthening collaboration between government, business actors, and academics, strengthening logistics infrastructure and export supply chain efficiency, and developing derivative products and downstreaming to increase the added value of Indonesian spice products. |
