Abstract: The eel (Anguilla bicolor) has a complex life cycle, and lighting is one of the environmental factors that significantly affect its physiology. This study aims to assess the effect of lighting variation on the cardiac performance of eels in the elver stadia. Electrocardiographic techniques were used to measure the physiological responses of eels to two types of lighting, namely blue light and white light. The research method involved observing the heart rate of eels exposed to both types of light. The results showed that white light caused a more significant increase in heart rate frequency compared to blue light. The average heart rate of fish in the white light treatment was 69.6±1.92 beats per minute, while in the blue light treatment it was 46.2±3.52 beats per minute. Statistical tests showed that this difference was significant (P<0.05). These findings have important implications in conservation and fishing practices, where lighting conditions can be optimized to improve eel welfare. This study provides new insights into the physiological adaptation of eels to lighting changes and suggests the need for lighting adjustments in such practices.
