Abstract: Serisin dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai obat luka.
Sericin can be used as a wound medicine. This study was conducted to analyze the effectiveness of using sericin extract of the silkworm eri (Samia cynthia ricini) as an incision wound medicine in Sprague-Dawley . The creams studied were creams with the addition of 5% sericin, 8% and without sericin. The tests carried out included testing of pH, viscosity, homogeneity, type of emulsion in cream and wound effects on rats in the form of observing body weight, skin irritation and decreasing incision length in 12 white rats for 10 days. The results of the observation of the sample cream showed that storage at room temperature (25 ) and treatment with the addition and without sericin had a significant effect (P<0,05) on pH and viscosity, and the resulting medicinal cream was relatively homogeneous with the type of oil-in-water emulsion. Observation of the length of the incision and skin irritation had a significant effect (P<0,05) on the treatment with the addition and without sericin within the specified observation time. Based on the results, it was concluded that the cream with the addition of sericin eri extract proved to have a positive effect on the characteristics of the cream and the wound healing process.
