memiliki potensi tertinggi. Kayu ulin (Eusideroxylon zwageri) memiliki nilai
ekonomi paling tinggi dibandingkan kayu lainnya. Nilai fisik dan ekonomi yang
cukup tinggi menunjukkan hutan berperan penting dalam kehidupan masyarakat
dan makhluk hidup lainnya. Namun, sebagian masyarakat hanya melihat fungsi
Sempayau Village has 9 percent of the area that is still forested in the nonstate forest (Other Land Use) that is threatened with forest conversion. The increasing threat of forest conversion indicates a weak commitment to protecting forests in Sempayau Village. To maintain the forest's existence, it is necessary to carry out physical, economic, and social assessments, obtained through field observation data, semi-structured interviews, and focus group discussions. Physical assessment can be identified through forest inventory activities, while economic valuation can be estimated using the market price approach. The condition of forest stands is distributed normally and dominated by mixed tropical hardwood. Ironwood (Eusideroxylon zwageri) has the highest economic value compared to other species. The high physical and economic values show that forests play a significant role in the lives of surrounding communities and other living things. However, some communities only focus on the tangible function of the forest for the fulfillment of daily needs. One alternative is forest utilization using agroforestry schemes, as a form of effort to manage sustainable forests and increase the income of the surrounding community. |
