Two experiments intended to evaluate the performance of birds offered diet containing 25% palm kernel cake (PKC). One hundred and twenty day old chick Red Jungle Fowl (RJF) and commercial broiler (CB) and two hundred and forty of Kampung and Merawang local Indonesia chickens were used in Experiment I and II . The ration offered from 3 to 8 weeks of age containing 19% crude protein and 3 100 kcal/kg (Exp. I), and 5 to 12 weeks of age containing 16% protein and 2700 kcal/kg (Exp. II). Measurements of performance were body weight, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio (FCR) and mortality. There was a large difference in body weight, feed consumption and FCR between RJF and CB, however the diet had no significantly effect. The diet significantly (P<0.01) affect the FCR of Experiment II in which the inclusion ofPKC worse in the FCR. It can be concluded that PKC at level of25% was not detrimental effect to the performance and is a suitable feedstufffor the chickenid
