      Abstract
Sweet-waxy corn cultivars with high amylopectin as well as sugar concentrations are considered potential for supporting food diversification. This research aimed to identify potential genotypes derived from hybridization between sweet and waxy corn for development of new sweet-waxy corn cultivars. The field experiment was conducted in Cikabayan, Darmaga, Bogor, and laboratory analysis was conducted in Indonesia Centre of Biotechnology and Biodiversity (ICBB), Bogor Barat, Bogor started from November 2014 to May 2015. Genetic materialsevaluated were 37 genotypes, consisting of 30 test genotypes and 7 check varieties. A single-factor Randomize Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications was followed. Total soluble solids has significant and positive correlation with amylopectin scores (r=0.312; P<0.05). Simultaneous selection based on ear weight, total soluble solids, and amylopectin scores resulted in five genotypes (CB1, CB12, CB14, CB8, and CB6) having largest selection index. CB1, CB6, and CB29 were significantlylarger than the grand mean for ear weight, ear length, plant height, and ear height. These five genotypes have a good potential as base populationsfordeveloping new corn inbred lines with high level of amylopectin and total soluble solids.
