Damping-off is one of the major diseases that often attack almost any plants in the nursery phase. The objective of this study was to isolate endophytic bacteria from betel and rice and to select their potency in controlling damping-off disease on cucumber. The isolation of endophytic bacteria was carried out through surface sterilization method with 70% alcohol, 4% NaOCl and sterile distilled water. Based on antibiosis test result, growth and suppression of endophytic bacteria against damping-off, two isolates of endophytic bacteria AS2 and BS14 from betel and two isolates, Ci6 and Ci10 from rice were known to have ability in suppressing the disease severity of damping-off up to 87.6% and able to increase the plant growth of cucumber in the greenhouse experiment.en
