dc.description.abstractVegetables from Solanaceae family, such as pepper, tomato, eggplant and potato, are among the important horticultural commodities in Indonesia. It is often that the production of those crops facing problems related to the highly infestation of pests and diseases. Chemical and biological control, and even the implementation of Integrated Pest Management will be more effective with the addition of resistant varieties to pests and diseases. Therefore breeding program toward resistant varieties are needed. To develop resistant varieties, sources of resistance traits can be obtained from crop wild relatives. This manuscript highlights our studies aimed at the identification resistance sources to several pests and diseases in Solanacea family that might be used in breeding program. Our studies show that crops wild relatives are rich sources of resistance factor. However there are still some constraint to explore and exploit those resistance factor in breeding program which are needed to be solved.en
