dc.description.abstractA cross-sectional study was conducted to determine the prevalence, intensity of infection, and to investigate the related risk factors of paramphistomosis in cattle of Ujungjaya Subdistrict, Sumedang. Fecal samples were collected from 108 cattle in August 2012 and were examined by modified filtration and sedimentation method to detect paramphistome eggs and to determine the number of egg per gram (EPG). The potential of risk factor in regard with sex, age, and livestock management were obtained by interviewing the farmer. The result showed that of the total 108 cattle, 20 were positive to paramphistomosis with a prevalence of 18.52%. The mean number of eggs in 4 gram fecal in infected cattle was 3.55 ± 2.33. The highest prevalence was observed in adult age group (25.71%) followed by calf >6-12 month age group (6.67%) and calf ≤6 month age group (4.35%). The infections was more prevalence in female (20.48%) than male (12%) and in grazing cattle (23.29%) than cattle that kept in cages (8.57%) but statistically not significant. The prevalence of paramphistomosis in between different husbandary practices of grazing management, feeding, anthelmentic, and sanitary was not significant (P>0.05)en
