D: Successful restoration, rehabilitation and agroforetsry projects need sound ecological and silvicultural analysis and knowledge. Understanding the silvicultural treatments of suitable species to be planted in the project sites is important to support appropriate decision making on silvicultural techniques to be applied which subsequently can reduce costs of operation. In addition, the rehabilitation technique to replanting the degraded forest lands need species-site suitability analysis as well as potential optimal benefits gained. This Technical Report is a collection of short silvicultural information of relevant species prepared to support Activity 2.4: Development of Adaptive Management Plan of the Study Area within the framework of ITTO Project PD 210/03 Rev. 3 (F) entitled Participatory Establishment of Collaborative Sustainable Forest Management in Dusun Aro, Jambi. We would like to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to Project Steering Committee for strategic decision and constructive comments and suggestions. This report was carried out by consultants and project management staff and sincere thanks and credits should go to the following team members: Dr. Iskandar Z. Siregar, Dr. Ulfah J. Siregar, Dr. Nurheni WIjayanto, Dr. Sri Wilarso and Dr. Prijanto Pamungkas. We are also greatly indebted to the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), Directorate General of Land Rehabilitation and Social Forestry, Ministry of Forestry and Faculty of Forestry, Bogor Agricultural University for financially supporting the activity as well as the publication.en
