Abstract : Ketoprofen-loaded chitosan nanoparticles are produced by ionic gelation process of chitosan and tripolyphosphate (TPP) with ultrasonication and sentrifugation methods. Ultrasonic waves with 20 kHz frequency were given to solution of chitosan, TPP, ketoprofen, and oleic acid mixtures at 30 minutes and then the solution was sentrifuged with 20000 rpm speed at 2 hours. The average weight of ketoprofen-loaded chitosan nanoparticles from each formula is 1.00 to 1.50 g for every 200 ml. The SEM characterization with magnication of 2000× showed that ketoprofen-loaded chitosan particles have particle size between 556 nm–11.11 μm with amount of chitosan nanoparticles was 58.08%. There are difference between FTIR spectra of ketoprofen-loaded chitosan nanoparticles with IR spectra of chitosan, such as specific peaks at 1410 cm-1 and 1637 cm-1 are from ketoprofen groups. A new specific peak also appear at 1153 cm-1 that showed P=O group of TPP.
