dc.description.abstract | Fish stock in a certain marine waters is dynamic since the tolal catch changes yearly. Consequently, fish stock estimate also changes each year, without exception in the northern coastal water of West Java. Fish stock condition ill Ihe northern coastal water of West Jara has flol been re-evaluated since the separation ofpart of the area of West Java Province to become the Province of Banten. Last e....aluation was done in 1999 which was before the separation. This current study is intended to l'e-assess the condition offish stock utilization and estimate fish stock growth parameters in the northern coastal water of West Java in 2006. Data offish produciion, effort, fish price, and cost per effort for 14 years (J 993-2006) are taken from the Office of Fisheries Agency of West Jalla Province. Effort data are standardized lIsing relative fishing power method. Analysis offish stock condition is carried out using GordonSchaefer bioeconomic model. Fish stock growth parameters are estimated using CYP, Uhler, and Hilborn and Walters methods. The results ofthis study show that utilization ofmarine fish resource in the northern coastal waler of West Java has been in the condition ofoverfished and over-effort. Estimates offish stock parameters in this area are: r = 2.144; K = 239.631.-152 ton: and q = 2. 777 * 10-. | |
