Tuna fish an important fish commodities. Because of its wide distribution and migration behavior, searching a good fishing ground needs …of time. Thermometric methods such as sea surface temperature (SST) is commonly used in predicting a good location of fishing grounds because it is easy to measure. In this paper, the attempt to locate a good fishing ground in Indian Ocean off Java and Sumbawa (09⁰S-15⁰S; 110⁰E-120⁰E), has been done by analyzing SST data from GMS-1 satellite and catch of 11 tuna longliners in three year-period. To locate the occurrence of good fishing ground, thirty five maps of SST distribution and montly mean hook rate are overlaid to determine their relationship. There are two distinctive water masses occurred during the period, i.e. water masses with SST≤29⁰C and SST≥30C. In the first water mass, the good fishing ground is delineated by certain two isotherm which their values are montly specific. The appearance of the later is frequently bring the high density of Tuna.en
