Pengujian pertumbuhan beberapa bibit pepaya hibrida

Abstract

This study aims to examine the growth and character study of some genotypes of papaya hybrid IPB 9 x IPB 3, IPB 9 x IPB 1, and IPB 3 x IPB 9 at the vegetative phase. Research conducted at the Experimental Field Station PKBT, Tajur Bogor, from May to September 2011 using a randomized complete block design. The treatment consists of 6 genotypes of papaya and 6 replications. Parameters observed variables plant height, leaf number, trunk diameter, petiole length, leaf length, leaf width, when the first flowers appear, and the height position of the first flower. The results showed the hybrid genotype, IPB 9 x IPB 3 have a small character but not different with IPB 9 x IPB 1 as well as have smaller leaf size. IPB 9 x IPB 1 genotype have an average number of leaves and stem diameter and height position of the first interest rate lower than other hybrids. In general, hybrid genotypes tested have low heterobeltiosis value and low heterosis value. Based on the results of estimating the value of heterosis and heterobeltiosis, IPB 9 x IPB 1 genotype maybe an alternative in obtaining hybrid because it have a much more superior character in the vegetative phase compared with two other hybrids.
