dc.description.abstractThe goal of this research was to utilize the Pelung cock culled for bad crowing (with good meal qualities) for crossing with the Kampung chicken in order to obtained superiority. The reciprocal cross was also conducted besides the control treatment of KxK mating. Sixty mature Pelung chickens and sixty mature Kampung chickens were used in this research. Four matings were observed i.e. P x αP, P x αK, K x αP, K x αK, with ratio 1: 5. Each matings were five repetetion. Production characteristics consisted of egg production, egg weights, fertility, hatchability and hatch weight. The results showed that Kampung cock and Pelung hen (K x P) crossing in the highest fertility compared the other crossing. The highest hatchabiltty was showed by K x P crossing. K x P crossing was heighest in hatch weight also. Heterosis in fertility and hatch weight were 2,70% and 5,75% each. The reserch indicated that crossing increased fertility, halchability and hatch weight. Selection hen Kampung is utilized for crossing in order to increase hatch weight.en
