Abstract
Dynamic properties of natural rubber with protein content that has been made lower will increase, more lower adsorb a water that influenced curing characteristics, and more easier to be modified That natural rubber known as deproteinised natural rubber or DPNR, with nitrogen contents specification is 0, J 2% in maximal. A protein in natural rubber could be removed in some ways, one of them by hydrolySiS of protein through chemical or enzymatic process. Protein hydrolysis through enzymatic WllS done by treated a surfactant stabiitzed natural latex with enzyme, so this process could be practice on rubber agroindustry thaI need latex as a raw material. Papain classified as a plant protease enzyme which could be get with easy from dried local papaya latex. Result of the research show thaI decreasing of nitrogen content will higher with increasing of papain dosage. Effectiveness of decieasing of nitrogen content will good work on lower DRC (dried rubber content) latex, a bigger surfactant dosage, and if using concentrated latex as a raw malerial. If latex DRC is much lower or surfactant is more higher. the latex will difficult to coagulate, so t,~e minimum DRC latex declared is 10% and maximum surfactant dosage is 0.05%. Using of 0.07% phr papain is able to decrease nitrogen content of a field latex from 0.46% to 0.07%. Technical properties, curing characteristics and physical properties of DPNR is better Ihan common natural rubber.
