Pengaruh Ukuran Benih Dan Letaknya Di Dalam Buah Terhadap Penampakan Seks Dan Vigor Bibit Papaya

Abstract

A factorial experiment was conducted at Leuwikopo experimental station, Darmaga, Bogor from August 1985 to February 1986 to study the effects of seed size and seed site in the parental fruit on the sex expression and seedling vigor of some papaya (Carica papaya L.) varieties. Treatments applied to the experiment were combinations of three factors e.i. : varieties including Cibinong, Dampit and Jingga ; seed sites as at the base, midle and tip part of the parental fruits; and seed size of which by using large and small seeds. Ten-week-old seed lings were transplanted on 5.5 x 3.0 m plots with plant spacing of 1.5 x 1.5 m. Manure rated 5 kg/hill was spplied at 3 weeks before transplanting. Whereas, Urea TSP and KCL fertilizers of 228, 205 and 91 kg/ha, respectively, were applied at 4 weeks after transplanting. A randomized block design with three replications was used in the experiment.
