Exploratory studies on the application of tissue culture technique as an alternative vegetative propagation method for melon were carried out in two experiments. The results showed that shoot-tips derived from seedlings grown in high kinetin media formed multiple shoot. Explants in low kinetin failed to form multiple shoot but roots. Cotyledons established in high kinetin media formed compact callus and adventitious shoots. In these experiments, complete plantlets were obtained from multiple shoot and adventitious shoot formed. These plantlets survive upon transfering soil.id
