Pengaruh Dosis Fungisida dan Periode Penyimpanan terhadap Viabilitas Benih Kakao (Theobroma cacao L.)
Abstract
The experiment of seed treatment and storage longevity on cacao seed valiability was conducted at Seed Science artd Technology Laboratory, Departement of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Bogor Agricultlrre University since March to July 1995. i%e objectives of this experiment were to find out the optimim dosage of fungicide treatment an& strorability on cacao seed Split plot design was used in this experiment; main plot were storage period. I. e. : 1, 3, 5, 7, arid 9 weeks and .374b plots were dosages offungrcide (active ingredient carbendhim + mankozeb) 0, 2, 4, 6, g'kg of seed with 3 replication. Each unit consisted of 40 seek. Result of'the experiment indicated that confrol seed (without fungrcide) were infected by fun@ Y 0.67 % ori the jirst week and its germination capacity was only 5 7.33 %. Fungi infection increased rapidly after I week and its caused the viability lost. Application of 2, 4, 6 gfungicide/kg of seedy inhibiteifingi growth and that treatments maintained seed viabrlity until 9 weeks of storage periodr There are no sign~frcantd flererice amongfungicide dosage, except on index vigor; application of 4 and 6 g (fl$lngicide result lower index vigo,: Betterfunecide dosage was 4.21 g/kg of seek based on quadratic regrr.s.sion Y=20.80 + 43.10 X - 5.12 X2 (Y = germination capacity, X = dosage fungrcide). Dominant fungi irlfected on seed storage were identified as Fusarium sp and Aspergillus sp. The storability of cucno seed with fungicide treatments on 9 weeks of storage period were still relalively ltigh, the gerrnlriarron capacrty more than 80 M and the seeding vrgor were nor drffrent among of all storage periods.
