There are some difficulties to study wildlife ecology in their natural habitat by using direct methods, especially for the species which have high mobility, or high sensitivity to human, or those which live nocturnal. A radio telemetry technique offers alternative for studying ecological aspect of wildlife, cove any species, ie. big mammals, small mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fishes, birds, etc. The radio telemetry equipment consists of a transmitter radio, a r& rrdk red on antenna. The transmitter is attached on an animal which is able to transmit pulaai dgmb caztthoudy, which can be detected by the receiver through the antenna. The weight of a transmitter unit vary from 1 g to 2000 g, depending on its power and lifetime, can be applied to various vertebrates species from mice to elephant. There are some environmental factors influencing the ability of the receiver radio to detect radio signals, e.g. vegetation, tree canopies. In a dense jungle, a ground w e y by a receiver radio may only detect radio signals from a distance of 2 km, while by aircraft monitoring, the signals may be detected from a distance of 100 km. The radio telemetry equipment is useful to study various ecological aspects of wildlife, e.g. movement patterns, homing strategy, behavior, home range, migration patterns, etc. It can be applied for diurnal as well as nocturnal animals.
