Palmar and plantar dermatoglyphics in macaques: A revised method for their description

Abstract

A revised method for the description of the palmar and plantar dermatoglyphics in macaques, genusMacaca, is proposed. The method was deduced from the authors' recent observations of numerous dermatoglyphic prints from several species of macaques. A brief discussion concerning the definition of the area of plantar distal thenar pattern is also given.
