| dc.description.abstract | Since 1978, the role of women in Indonesia's national development has been proclaimed as a national issue to encourage the diversification of women's role in development. This is mandated within the framework of the GBHN (The Broad Guidelines of State Policy). Problems to incorporate women in specific development activities were encountered partly due to the lack of statistical indicators, research studies and an effective national data bank of research on women. To overcome these problems, various government and nongovernment agencies have broadened their activities to promote the advancement of women beyond their traditional roles. The programs conducted by the government are carried out through sectoral department budgets, under the Integrated Program for Enhancing Role of Women Toward a Healthy and Prosperous Family (P2W-KSS). Academic institutions (state and private universities), are conducting Women Situation Analysis (WSA) in each province in Indonesia through their Women's Studies Centers (WSCs). The semi and nongovernment organizations, on the other hand, implement their programs in both urban and rural areas, either in agriculture or non-agriculture projects which are in the line with existing government programs. However, the practical commitment on the form of resources is still limited. To mainstream women in development planning, Indonesia is now developing programs to undertake further development and institutional strengthening within the state university for the role of women, with the assistance of several donor agencies including the state's budgets TypeConference, Summary, Non-Conventional. | id |
