In Vitro Culture in Indonesia Sugar Research Insitute
Abstract
In vitro culture technology has been studied by indonesian Sugar Research Institute since 1975. This technology is developed to support conventional sugarcane breding program. Methods of rapid seed multiplication and de- virus-ing plants are employed to increase provision of new promising variety plant materails . In vitro selection tecnique are developed to screen varieties againts salinity and Pokahboeng disease . Protoplast fusion has been succesfully done but could not be cultured yet . Effort to obtain haploid plant from anther culture was disappointing . The study of associating simbiotic N-fixer at regeneration stage of cane callus , and the use of Agrobacterium tumif aciens on genetic transformation is progress . Biomolecular technique is being sought to find DNA probe for disease resistant . While identification of varieties through isoenzym analysisis being studied. The use monoclonal antibodyto detect ratoon stunting desease is being developed,
