dc.description.abstractEven knowledge and utilization of plant species diversity by Iocal people have much been done in many areas of western Indonesia, but for the Eastern part, especially for Buru and South Seram islands the plant diversity conected with the uniqueness of people there have not been much stadied yet. This study was carried out to some ethnic people in western part of North Buru island and in Sepa village of South Seram, Central Maiuku. The result showed 87 species were gathered and utilized for medicine, food, building material, cosmetics, thathings for kitchen utensils, poison and for ornamental plants. Most of these raui material were directly gathered from their natural habitats 67,82 %, and the rest 32,18 % were taker? from the cultivated plants. This paper discussed the botanical, conservational, managerial aspects, and the utilization methods.id
