A complete genetic map. including genetic markers for all regions of all the chromosomes in a genome. serves ~ framework for determining the location of genes responsible for variation in plant growt~ and dev~/opment. Strategies jor mapping both discrete and continous phenotypes are wBlI-established, as are efficient ex~rlmen~al approa~hes which minimize the time and cost of genetic mapping.
