The genetic distance of eight Capsicum accessions was studied using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers. The accessions were grouped into four cluster" which corresponded to the four species, i.e .. Capsicum annuum. C chrnense. C baccatliln. and C jrutescens The clusters of C annllum. C jrlltescens, and C chinense were more closely linked to each other than to C baccatliln. One RAPD marker, OPG" (1350 bp), correlated with resistance to C capsici as determined in a laboratory test. Parental supposed for make segregation population were Jatilaba (c. annullln) and PI 315023 (C chinense) [KeYll·ords Capsicum. Col/etotrichllm capsici. disease resistance. RAPDIid
