dc.description.abstractGcmini virus infection has been reported on various important crops, among others on tomato, Diseased plant were collected from six tomato growing areas in West Java (Bandung, Segunung, Darrnaga, Ciloto, Cibeuying, and Cisaat) and one tomato field in Lampung (Bandar Lampung). The diseased plants showed various symptoms ranging from leaf curling, yellowing, and stunting. Polymerase chain reaction method using universal primers for geminiviruses successfully amplified a 1.5 kb DNA fragulent from diseased plants from Bandung, Cisaat. Ciloto and Cibeunying. Host range study was conducted for two isolates of tomato infecting geminiviruses i.e. Bandung and Ciloto. using insect vector transmission. Out of ten plant species, six plant species (Nicoli alia benlhamiana, CapSiClll1l/rurescens, Lycopersicum pimpinellijolium, Gomphrena g/obosa, Capsicum annUUllI, and Lycopersicum escufenlum) showed symptoms with incubation period of 15-29 days and disease incidence of 20%-100% and three plant species (Solanum nigrul11, Cucllmis sativlIs, and Phaseolus vulgariS) were symptomless, Further study needs to be carried out to confinn the response of Ageratum conyzoides to geminivirus infection.id
