dc.description.abstractIF we take three recent points in time and compare statistics of Java's population and rice production (Table 5.1) we find the growth of the latter has fallen well behind that of population. Between 1953 and 1967 total output of milled rice rose by 13 per cent and total popula-tion by 30 per cent. Wet rice area harvested showed little change over the period and yield differences between 1953 and 1967 accounted for the limited increase in output. ...id
