Keanekaragaman Hayati Tumbuhan di Areal Hutan Desa Pematang Gadung, Kabupaten Ketapang, Provinsi Kalimantan Barat
Abstract
Pematang Gadung Village Forest is a village forest managed by a community group in Pematang Gadung Village,
Matan Hilir Selatan District, Ketapang Regency, West Kalimantan Province. The Community Group that manages
Pematang Gadung VF has a strong commitment to sustainable forest management. To minimize the negative impact of
forest exploitation on plant biodiversity in the area, it is necessary to identify the presence of protected and/or rare plant
species, their threats, as well as management and monitoring efforts for biodiversity that need to be carried out. This
research aims to identify the habitat conditions and biodiversity of plants in the Pematang Gadung VF area, Ketapang
Regency, West Kalimantan Province. The richness of plant species in Pematang Gadung VF is 105 species which can be
grouped into 44 families. Based on location, the highest plant species richness is found in transects 10 & 11 (65 species)
and the least is found in transect 8 (13 species). The diversity of plant species in the Pematang Gadung VF area ranges
from low to high (0.000 to 3.158), while the density of plant species ranges from 3 to 45,500 ind./ha. Based on its protection
status, in the Pematang Gadung VF area there are no protected plant species found according to Minister of Environment
and Forestry Regulation No. P.106 of 2018; however, 3 types of plants were found which were included in the CITES
Appendix II List, 2 types of plants were included in the VU/Vulnerable category, 1 type of plant was included in the
EN/Endangered category, and 1 type of plant was included in the CR/Critically Endangered category according to IUCN.
There are 4 threats to plant biodiversity in the Pematang Gadung VF area, namely (1) illegal logging, (2) area
encroachment, (3) insufficient availability of resources to manage and monitor plants, and (4) forest and land fires. Plant
biodiversity management activities in the Pematang Gadung VF area that need to be carried out include boundary marking,
internal and external outreach, prevention and protection of plant biodiversity, further surveys of the population status of
plant species, as well as coordination with relevant agencies and the community. Plant biodiversity monitoring activities
that need to be carried out include biodiversity and plant density, the effectiveness of preventing and overcoming
disturbances to plant biodiversity, and monitoring the intensity of disturbances to plant biodiversity.
