Kajian Stok Karbon Tinggi (SKT) di Areal Hutan Desa Pangkalan Telok, Kabupaten Ketapang, Provinsi Kalimantan Barat
Abstract
Pangkalan Telok Village Forest (VF) is a village forest managed by a community group in Pangkalan Telok Village,
Nanga Tayap District, Ketapang Regency, West Kalimantan Province. The Community Group that manages VF Pangkalan
Telok has a strong commitment to sustainable forest management. To minimize the negative impact of forest exploitation
on High Carbon Stock (SKT) areas in the area, it is necessary to carry out an inventory of HCS forests, threats, as well as
efforts to manage and monitor SKT areas. This research aims to identify High Carbon Stock (HCS) areas in the Pangkalan
Telok VF area, Ketapang Regency, West Kalimantan Province. Based on the results of the SKT forest inventory, it was
found that in the >50 cm diameter class, 4 trees/ha were found, including 2 trees/ha in Medium Density Forest (HK2) and
2 trees/ha in Low Density Forest (HK1); in the 30-49.9 cm diameter class, 8 trees/ha were found including 3 trees/ha in
Medium Density Forest (HK2), 3 trees/ha in Low Density Forest (HK1), 1 tree/ha in Young Regeneration Forest (HRM) ,
and 1 tree/ha in Thicket (B). The distribution of trees in the diameter classes 15-29.9 cm and 5-14.9 cm was found in each
land cover class. The highest estimated carbon stocks in the Pangkalan Telok VF area were found in the land cover classes
High Density Forest (HK3), Medium Density Forest (HK2), Low Density Forest (HK1), and Young Regeneration Forest
(HRM) amounting to 46,348.69 tC/ha; while the lowest was in the Plantation-Agriculture (AGRI) cover class at 9,890.64
tC/ha. Area estimates for vegetation stratification show that the potential SKT class in the Pangkalan Telok VF area is
544.94 ha, while the non-SKT class in the area is 412.28 ha. Based on the results of the FGD and field observations, there
are 4 threats to the HCS area in the Pangkalan Telok VF area, namely (1) Illegal logging, (2) Encroachment on the area,
(3) and (3) Forest and land fires. HCS area management activities in the Pangkalan Telok VF area that need to be carried
out include boundary marking, internal and external outreach, prevention and protection of HCS areas, as well as
coordination with related agencies and the community. Monitoring activities for HCS areas that need to be carried out
include carrying out an inventory of HCS forests, preventing and controlling disturbances to HCS areas effectively, and
monitoring the intensity of disturbances to HCS areas.
