Length or period of gestation is accounted starting from the last insemination until the birth of the calf. By knowing the period of gestation a farmer can prepare a birthplace, time for the dry period and the farmer can make a good, efficient, and profitable farm management. The purpose of this case study is to investigate whether the period of gestation is affected by the sex of the fetus. The case study was using FH cows as many as 441 cows which consist of 381 cows were from lactation dam and 60 cows were from dara dam. Data collection was conducted by sensus and interview. ~ollectiono f data was consist of names of the cow and farmers, dates and number of insemination, dates of birth, sex of the calf and number of calves. Data analysis was conducted by variance test (Tukey test) and correlation test. The result showed that statisticaly period of gestation vras not affected by the sex of the fetus (p > 0.05) and there was a weak relationship between the sex of the fetus with period of gestation (r = -0.0017), eventhough there was a difference in length of gestation where the average of period of gestation on the male calves were 0.66 days (15.84 hours) longer than the female calves. These were caused, possibility, by various factors that affected period of gestation : genetic of the dam and fetus, number of fetus, nutrition, temperatur and hormones. Percentage of normal birth was higher (65.5%) compared to the early birth and the late birth.
