Keanekaragaman Hayati Tumbuhan Di Areal PBPH PT. Daya Maju Lestari Blok I, Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara Dan Kutai Barat, Provinsi Kalimantan Timur
Abstract
PT. Daya Maju Lestari Block I (PT. DML Blok I) is one of the companies engaged in the business of industrial plantation forests
in the districts of West Kutai Kartanegara and Kutai Barat, East Kalimantan Province. The company has a strong commitment to
sustainable forest management. In order to minimize the negative impact of forest exploitation on plant biodiversity in the area, it is
necessary to identify the existence of protected and/or rare plant species, threats, and the existence of management and monitoring
efforts for biodiversity that need to be carried out. This study aims to identify habitat conditions and plant biodiversity in the PBPH
area of PT. DML Bok I, Kutai Kartanegara and Kutai Barat Regency, East Kalimantan Province. In the PBPH area of PT. DML Block
I as many as 351 species that can be grouped into 96 families, where the highest plant species richness is found in secondary forest
(309 species) and the lowest is found in open land (61 species). Based on the protection status, in the PBPH area of PT. DML Block I
did not find protected plant species according to the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation (Permen LHK) No. P.106 of
2018; however, 9 plant species were found which were included in the CITES Appendix II List, and 7 (seven) plant species were found
which were classified as VU/Vulnerable (vulnerable) according to the IUCN, 1 (one) type which was included in EN/Endangered
(threatened/endangered) according to the IUCN, and 2 (two) plant species included in the CR/Critically Endangered (critical) category
according to IUCN. There are 4 threats to plant biodiversity in the PBPH area of PT. DML Block I namely (1) Illegal logging, (2)
Area encroachment, (3) Availability of resources that manage and monitor plants is still lacking, and (4) Forest and land fires. Plant
biodiversity management activities in the PBPH area of PT. DML Block I that needs to be carried out are boundary marking,
socialization internally and externally, prevention and protection of plant biodiversity, further surveys of plant species population
status, and coordination with relevant agencies and the community. Plant biodiversity monitoring activities in the PBPH area of PT.
The DML Block I that needs to be carried out are biodiversity and plant density, the effectiveness of preventing and overcoming
disturbances to plant biodiversity, and monitoring the intensity of disturbance to plant biodiversity.
