| dc.description.abstract | PT. Silva Rimba Lestari (PT. SRL) is a company engaged in the business of industrial plantation forests in the Kutai Kartanegara
Regency, East Kalimantan Province. The company has a strong commitment to sustainable forest management. In order to minimize
the negative impact of forest exploitation on High Carbon Stock (HCS) areas in the area, it is necessary to carry out an inventory of
HCS forests, threats, as well as management and monitoring efforts for HCS areas. This study aims to identify High Carbon Stock
(HCS) areas in the PT. SRL PBPH area, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province. Based on the results of the HCS
forest inventory, it was found that in diameter classes >50 cm, only 6 trees/ha were found in Sacred Forest (DF3). DF2, DF1); in the
30-49.9 cm diameter class, 15 trees/ha were found including 12 trees/ha in Density Forest (DF3, DF2, DF1), and 3 trees/ha in Young
Regeneration Forest (YRF). trees in the diameter class of 15-29.9 cm and 5-14.9 cm were found in each land cover class.The highest
estimated carbon stock in the PT.SRL PBPH area was found in the Low Density Forest (DF1) land cover class of 2,774,411, 50 tC/ha,
while the lowest was in the High Density Forest (DF3) land cover class of 3,028.47 tC/ha.The area estimation for vegetation
stratification shows that the potential HCS class in PT SRL's PBPH area is 35,877.95 ha, while the non HCS in this area is 52,122.05
ha. Based on the results of the FGD and field observations, there are 4 threats to the HCS area in the PBPH area of PT. SRL namely
(1) Illegal logging, (2) Area encroachment, (3) and (3) Forest and land fires. HCS area management activities in the PBPH area of
PT. The SRLs that need to be carried out include marking boundaries, socializing internally and externally, preventing and protecting
HCS areas, and coordinating with relevant agencies and the community. HCS area monitoring activities that need to be carried out
include taking an inventory of HCS forests, effectively preventing and controlling disturbances to HCS areas, and monitoring the
intensity of disturbances to HCS areas. | id |
