Utilization and evaluation of information technology in PT Petrokimia Gresik

Abstract

In 2003, PT Petrokimia Gresik began to utilize information technology (IT) software called Industrial and Financial Systems (IFS). The software use Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) concept, which integrate all data in the company thus enhancing bussines process. There are two phases in the implementation of software modules, the first phase are module for finance, human resource, maintenance, sales and service. The second phase include module for engineering, distribution and manufacturing. This thesis evaluates the implementation of IFS from selecting modules phase to executing system phase in three point of view, which is managerial, budgeting, and system performance. The result then used as a basis data for an application that developed in the end of research. The applications are using decision support system (DSS) concept as a tool in evaluation information for the executive, so they can achieve a conclusion for the implementation result. The results of IT utili zation in PT Petrokimia Gresik are bussines process simplification and data integration. The results enhance efficiency and effectivity of bussines process thus optimalizes company workload. The strategy to improve IT implementation process are furthering costumization of the modules.
