HUBUNGAN ANTARA VIABILITAS, MOTILITAS DAN KEUTUHAN MEMBRAN PLASMA SPERMATOZOA SEMEN BEKU SAPI LIMOUSIN
Abstract
Limousine is one of popular beef cattle among farmers. According to Indonesian National Standard (INS), the quality of frozen semen that distribute and inseminate to the cattle must have a post-thawing motility >40% and individual scoring >2. This study aimed to test the quality of Limousine frozen semen with different parameters, namely the percentage of sperm motility, viability (indicator of viable sperm), and percentage of plasma membrane integrity (MI) and to find out the relationship between those three parameters. The motility was assess subjectively by three evaluator. The sperm viability assess with eosin nigrosin stain and membrane integrity (MI) was test using hypo osmotic swelling (HOS) test. The data were analyzed using the Pearson correlation SPSS 16 for windows. Among the four individual Limousin showed that whole frozen semen is still in good condition and the post thawing motility of all bulls was qualified according to INS semen production . There was a positive correlation between motility and viability, motility and MI as well as viability and membrane integrity.
