Karakteristik lemak dan kolesterol daging Domba Muda yang diberi ransum komplit mengandung minyak biji bunga matahari

Abstract

Levels of fat and cholesterol in lamb meat could be intervened by modified feed using sunflower seed oil (Helianthus annuus) addition that were rich in linoleic fatty acids. The study was purposed to evaluate the effect of sunflower seed oil (MBBM) on the characteristics of lamb fat and cholesterol. The variables observed was the water content, fat content, the ratio of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids composition, cholesterol and numbers of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) in lamb meat. Total of 9 local lambs were divided into 3 groups and were given a treatment ration: P0 (complete ration without MBBM), P1 (complete ration with MBBM 4%) and P2 (complete ration with MBBM 6%). The treatment showed that the addition of the MBBM into the complete rations didn’t affect the variables observed. Generally this study showed that the addition of MBBM into complete ration up to 6% gave positive effect on ratio of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids composition, and it could decrease the level of lamb meat rancidity
