The physical properties are indicator of testing the quality of raw material which is very important in addition to chemical and biological tests. This research observed physical properties and chemical composition of forage materials Gliricidia sepium, Calliandra calothyrsus, Leucaena leucocephala, Indigofera sp, Trichantera gigantea, Carica papaya, Manihot utilissima, and the relationship between the physical properties and chemical composition of the feed materials. The study was conducted for 2 months by measuring physical properties and proximate and van soest for chemical composition analysis of forage. The results showed that specific gravity was negatively affected by crude protein (r = - 0.654) and positively affected by ash (r = 0.692) were significantly different at P < 0.05. Bulk density negatively affected by crude protein (r = - 0.522) were significantly different at P < 0.05. Bulk density compaction negatively affected by crude protein (r = - 0.644) and neutral detergent insoluble crude protein (r = - 0.767) were significantly different at P < 0.05. It can be concluded that the relationship between physical properties and chemical composition of forage have a small effect excepted for the crude protein.
