      Abstract
      This study aimed at designing a method to determine color level of corn leaf and to estimate chlorophyll content using mobile phone cameras. In this research, two kinds of color references were used: 2 colored ribbon and the national ID card. The image of the leaf and color references are captured with handphone camera, and then the R, G, B, grey scale color components are extracted. Furthermore different of the leaf color grey scale and color component grey scale are used to determine the color level of the leaf. The leaf samples are also measured with SPAD chlorophyll meter to determine the chlorophyll content. The accuracy of leaf color prediction with 2 colored ribbon references under field illuminance were 72.45% for sweet corn and 78.12% for hybrid corn, while the accuracy under controlled illuminance 1500 lux were 92.69%. With national ID card references the accuracy were 81.48% for sweet corn and 76.82% for hybrid corn under field illuminance, while measuring under controlled illuminance 1500 lux were 94.45%. The accuracy of chlorophyll prediction was very low: R2 = 0.4317 with 2 colored ribbon references and R2= 0.4762 with national ID card references for sweet corn, and then R2 = 0.4355 with 2 colored ribbon references and R2= 0.5284 with national ID card references for hybrid corn. This is caused by the relation of manual color level measured also showed a low correlation with chlorophyll content (R2 = 0.8466 for sweet corn and R2 = 0.8506 for hybrid corn).
