      Abstract
This research was aimed to study the relationship between hydration statusof teenagersand short term memory capacity. This study used experimental design. The subjects in this study were 90 students, consisted of 45 students as control and 45 students as intervention groups. Research was conducted in one Junior High School named SMP Pangerasan, Cijeruk Subdistrict, District of Bogor. On the day of research implementation, the whole subjects had breakfast together at 7.00 a.m. at the school. Breakfast menu consisted of sandwich with cheese, chocolate and milk. The nutrient contents of food were 330 Kcal energy, 12 g protein and sufficient amount of water. Previously, the subject was also asked not to consume anything from home. Furthermore, the subject was asked not to consume any kind of food and drinks until 12 p.m. At 12.00p.m.the intervention groupwasgiven drinking water until the subject satisfied, and followed by measurements of the short memory capacity starting 5 minutes later. At the same time, memory capacity of the control group were measured without giving any kind of drink. The results of the study showed that hydration status most of the subjects (78%) were on the level 2. Out of six words tested, the number of words memorized by intervention group were 3.26 ±0.85, while for control group were 2.04±0.29. Memory capacity for pictures in intervention group was 3.51±1.05 while in control group was 3.11±1.15. Spearman test showed significant correlation(p<0.05) between hidration status and short term memory capacity.
