Physical and Mechanical Properties of Bamboo Oriented Strand Board Made from Steamed Pretreated Bamboo Strands under Various Bamboo Species and Resin Content

Abstract

Oriented strand board (OSB) is a structural panel product that can be made from wood and other lignocellulosic materials i.e., bamboo. The objectives of this research were to develop high performance of bamboo oriented strand board (BOSB) prepared from steam pretreated bamboo strands under various bamboo species and resin content.

Oriented strand board (OSB) merupakan produk yang dapat dibuat dari bahan baku kayu dengan kualitas rendah serta penggunaan bahan berlignoselulosa selain kayu seperti bambu. Perlakuan pendahuluan steam terhadap strand bambu dilakukan untuk memperbaiki stabilitas dimensi serta sifat mekanis OSB dan menggunakan perekat fenol formaldehida (PF) agar lebih ekonomis. Pengujian meliputi sifat fisis serta sifat mekanis dengan pengujian yang merusak (destruktif) dan tanpa merusak bahan (nondestruktif).
