      Chemical Composition and Concentration of Lactoferrin from Colostrum of Etawah-Grade (EGG) and Jawarandu Goat Breed

      Komposisi Kimia dan Konsentrasi Laktoferin dalam Kolostrum Kambing Perah Peranakan Etawah (PE) dan Jawarandu.;
      Ternak perah merupakan hewan ternak yang dapat menghasilkan susu melebihi kebutuhan anaknya. Kambing perah termasuk salah satu ternak perah dengan hasil utama adalah susu. Kambing Peranakan Etawah (PE) dan kambing Jawarandu merupakan bangsa-bangsa kambing perah yang tergolong plasma nutfah Indonesia dan telah dikembangkan potensinya sebagai penghasil kolostrum dan susu yang dapat memberikan nilai tambah bagi perekonomian masyarakat. Kolostrum mengandung banyak senyawa aktif yang penting bagi kesehatan, salah satunya adalah laktoferin. Kolostrum dapat dijadikan sebagai salah satu sumber laktoferin yang memiliki berbagai manfaat, diantaranya adalah sebagai antimikroba. Pemanfaatan kelebihan kolostrum kambing perah diharapkan mampu mengurangi masalah infeksi pencernaan bakterial oleh Escherichia coli yang sering dijumpai khususnya pada anak-anak di Indonesia.

      Abstract
      Goats are considered as dairy animals and milk is their main product. Dairy goats colostrums is one of lactoferrin source which has various benefits such as antimicrobial activity. Lactoferrin is one of antibacterial substance that naturally found in milk, especially in colostrums, used to prevent diarrhea in neonatal. Lactoferrin was expected could be used to treat gastrointestinal tract infection bacteriologically cases, that was primarily caused by Escherichia coli which was the major problem in Indonesia. Lactoferrin issues from cows has largely studied, contrairely from dairy goats was very limited. Indonesia has many different of dairy goat breeds that could be interesting to be studied concerning its potenciality as source of lactoferrin. This research has purposed to studied on chemical composition of colostrums and the concentration of lactoferrin. This research also determined the concentration of lactoferrin in colostrums from two different dairy goat breeds, there were Etawah-Grade and Jawarandu breed, using anion exchange chromatography. Experimental design used was Randomized Complete Design with three repetitions and Factorial Randomized Complete Design (2 x 3) with three repetitions. Any significant differences were further tested by using Duncan’s test.
